Luminous lets you use Cortana to open your flashlight
Sometimes you just want to turn your phone’s flashlight on quickly. Sometimes times you want to be a witch or wizard. Luckily, there’s an app for that. It’s called Luminous and it allows you to activate your flashlight using Cortana by saying “Lumos Maxima!”
The exclamation point isn’t required and you can also say Lumos or Luminous followed by Maximus, on, lights on, or show/give me some light but at that point I’m not sure why you’re downloading a Harry Potter flashlight app. We spotted the app on Reddit and it’s pretty fun to play around with.
You can also customize which wand appears on your screen. The options at the moment are Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Hermoine Granger, and Ron Weasley.
When you prompt the app to open, Cortana says “Okay Professor” which is a nice touch. Gimmicks aside, it loads fairly quickly and the Cortana integration is nice.
Currently, flashlights on Windows Phone require an app and can’t be added to the notifications/action center so it’s worth grabbing this free app and trying it out.
