Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 rolling out for Lumia 830 & Other Lumias in India
Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 has rolled out for some Lumia devices in the past few weeks, with Lumia 640 and 640 XL shipping with the new operating system pre-installed out of the box. A new report from Windows Central suggest that several Lumia devices are getting updates in India, with Lumia 830 receiving the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 as we speak in the region. Other Lumia devices, including the Lumia 930, 1320 and 1520 are also getting software updates, but it appears it’s only a firmware bump rather than the new Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2.
The official change log is not yet available, but it seems users are now seeing 4G connection speeds on their Lumia 930 and 1520. Both devices support Airtel’s LTE bands, a local carrier offering 4G services in the region. As for the changes in Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, you can now give your Windows Phone a name without connecting it to your PC. You can just head over to Settings > About > Edit name to give you device a new name. Furthermore, the update gives you more control over app permissions and lots more. You can check out the Windows Phone Update 2 change log here.
If you happen to be Lumia 830 user, check your device for any software updates and let us know using the comments below if you’ve received it.
